Roadwork Sign Frame Left

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 19:19, Thu 4 May 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4518310.

On the junction 6 exit slip road heading. A roadwork sign frame (without the sign) has been left behind. It is upright and not supported. It is leaning towards the lane, and looks as though it could tip over into the exit slip road carriageway.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the redundant roadworks sign on the A1(M) at junction 6. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

National Highways employ external contractors to carry out roadworks on motorways and strategic A roads. These contractors are required to remove all temporary signs and equipment when the works are finished. Sometimes this does not happen as effectively as we would like. We are currently looking into a way that we can overcome this issue and will endeavour to remove all redundant signage and equipment at our earliest opportunity.

We have passed your report onto our local inspector to action.

Thank you again for contacting us. If you need more information about this, please feel free to contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 500 or by email at info@highwaysengland.co.uk.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
