Massive area of tarmac missing and various other pot holes surrounding it covering the whole width of outside lane making it impossible to avoid if a car is in the inside lane

  • Thank you for informing our Customer Contact Centre about the potholes / road surface condition on the A1 (M) at Hatfield. I appreciate you taking the time to report this. I’ve passed your observations to our maintenance team who will promptly investigate your report.

    Potholes can be hazardous and we have processes in place to ensure they are made safe quickly. We carry out frequent safety patrols to monitor the condition of the road. Any potholes or defects we find are recorded. Repairs are then prioritised based on the severity of the defect. Kind regards National Highways
