Very poor road markings on the A452 Castle Bromwich interchange island, next to the National Highways Depot

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 13:11, Sun 23 April 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4476011.

As you approach the Castle Bromwich Interchange island coming from the Spitfire island, there are 3 Lanes.

The left hand lane is for the M6 Only, the middle lane is for the A452 Leamington (collector Road) and the B4147. A lot of road users who are intending to travel on the A452 Leamington (collector Road) position themselves in the M6 Only lane at the island and then cut the road users up who are travelling on the A452.

It has been like this for many years with No improvement. I have seen many collisions and near misses, and today i was involved in a stressful near miss again from a driver cutting me up. This happens to many drivers every single day, and it is the matter of time that some innocent drivers (and passengers) are going to get seriously hurt and possibly killed because of the very poor road markings. As a suggestion, can the M6 Only Lane be heavily marked from Tameside Drive right through to the M6 slip road with a Thick solid white marking? with signs

It is a matter of urgency to save lives.

Updates

  • Still the same problem and not been fixed.

Constantly go to crashes there due to no lane markings.

  • I started a petition to get better road markings and that has happened but people ignore them - everyday near misses. Needs better markings such as a filter lane and signage further back by the bridge
