On 22nd April 2023 at 11.30pm I was travelling along A12 from Chelmsford to Great Oakley which is a 40 minute drive. The A12 was closed at Kelvedon taking traffic on a diversion through Kelvedon where the road was also closed. Lorries and cars were having to turn around at the road closure as did I three times. I followed your diversion signs which took me in a circle, leading me back to Kelvedon each time. I thought I had missed a diversion sign so I did this three times and the diversion signs took me in a circle only. I spent three hours trying to get home and was very lost and scared. In the end I had to get my map out and search for my own way home past Colchester.

    Saturday 22 April (9pm to 6am) • Northbound lane 2 closed between junction 21 and 23 • Northbound junction 23 to J26 carriageway closed • Northbound junction 24 entry slip road closed • Northbound junction 25 entry slip road closed The signed diversion route directed northbound traffic away from the A12 at J19 to re-join at J25, via the A130, A131 & A120
