Loss drain cover between 42 and 44 Upper Brighton Road Lancing

The is a drain in the eastbound carriage, in the outside lane between 42 and 44 Upper Brighton Road Lancing. Everything a vehicle drives over it, it makes a banging noise, like it is lifting up and then banging down again.

It was fine until heavy work vehicles starting driving/parking on it when resurfacing the road, for about 2 weeks. I have been noticing it more, so I think it is getting worse.

One it is really annoying banging all the time but there is also a concern that if it is loss will it fly up when a vehicle drives over it.

  • Thank you for your report concerning the noisy manhole cover.

    Our inspector has attended today and confirms the cover is rattling and moving and we're reporting this onto Southern Water as the cover belongs to them, requesting that they carry out suitable repairs.
