Streetlights unlit

Reported via mobile in the Street lighting (NH) category anonymously at 21:05, Sun 16 April 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4447865.

Street lights on the A627 (M) has streetlights however they are unoperational. However the round about from the M62 has recently had LED lanterns fitted to them but on the A627(M) has street lights that are not lit up to junction Broadway, where recently they’ve been upgraded to LEDs. Please can you explain why these have been lit for the past 8 years at least (I’ve been driving this route for the past8years). Thank you.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about street lighting on the A627M.

The A627M is mainly unlit to help us support the aims of the Department for Transport to reduce carbon emissions by switching off lighting on carefully selected stretches of motorway. Sites have been chosen where there is a good safety record and where analysis shows that the lights can be switched off without increasing risks to road user safety.
