Significant potholes, M61 Northbound from Junction 1 to Junction 3

Between lanes 2 and 3, from Junction 1 to Junction 3 of the M61, there are elements of the carriageway surface that comprises of long stretches of potholes. These start as you join the M61 from the M60, and extend through the concrete tunnels and continue as far as Junction 3 at Kearsley spur. The issue has been getting worse for around 6 months.

From start of M61 north bound the joint between slip road where traffic merges is one continuouse pothole.The casm is distraction to drivers and is causing danger as distracts from watching merging traffic when switching to Preston bound lane or Bolton Wanderers.

Thank you for your report concerning damage to the carriageway on the M61 junctions 1-3. Your report has been passed to our local inspector who will review the issue. Repairs will be arranged as needed. We regularly and routinely inspect and maintain our roads to ensure that they meet the highest standards of safety and durability. When inspected, some defects do not present an immediate hazard and will be monitored until we have further works planned at the location.
