Dangerous Traffic Light Sequence

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:43, Tue 11 April 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4425642.

I just was at the traffic light junction of Coombe Road and the Shoreham Bypass waiting to turn right onto the Old Shoreham Road heading to Worthing. When I got the green light I pulled out across the eastbound carriageway and was nearly t-boned by a car that had a green light to enter that carriageway from the Brighton City Airport slip road. It would appear the phasing of these lights is out of sync and could cause a serious accident.

  • At this junction i have driven my mobility scooter down to the bottom of Coombes road where it meets the A27 in the past i have gone straight across when the lights have been green over to the top of Shoreham airport this is now blocked off so in theory i should go along the A237 which is not a good idea. if a dropped curb can be put in and this junction allowing me to mount the curb i can get to the Pedestrian Crossing
