Litter everywhere!

Wow The M1 is a mess. It is awful around J21, 22 and J31 - 35. Gruesome. Considering you are paid by the Dpt of Transport to keep the highways "predominantly free of litter" that means you are completely failing.

What is the plan for cleaning up the M1 - both hard shoulder and central resevrvation? You've had the whole of the winter and spring with little undergrowth to clear it and you have obv left it. Had school holidays, quiet weeks, day and months yet nothing.

    We’re aware of these issues. The mainline of the M1 is picked once per year. Junction 21-21a is picked 4 times per year as this has been identified as a litter hotspot.

    The M1 mainline between J20 and 24 was picked between 11/08/2022 and 25/10/2022. We are next planning to pick the mainline between J20 and 24 between 15/05/2023 and 05/06/2023.
