M27 between jct 5 & jct 7

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 10:02, Fri 7 April 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4408824.

M27 between junction 5 & junction 7 (Eastleigh - Hedge End)

This has been an issue since the 'smart motorway' finished, they covered the old markings badly that it's more visible when it's sunny day that everyone is all over the place not following the faded white markings. High risk of accidents and more road rage (because some people don't know what they done wrong not realizing they aren't in actual lane)

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning road markings on the M27 around Junction 5-7.

We currently have plans to completely resurface the concrete stretch of the M27, including repainting markings. We aim to increase the visual distinction between the markings and the road itself, as well as reducing the visibility of joint materials which may cause confusion. This scheme will add a thick layer of asphalt on top of the concrete that’s currently in place there, and it is due to start in Spring 2023, lasting approximately 12-18 months to complete. Up-to-date information can be found at the following link as we make it available:
