Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4399380.
Deep and expanding potholes in a large number of places of both lanes that require urgent repair as damage to vehicles is highly likely and I drive this route daily. It worsens every day. Previous repairs are deteriorating too.
Thank you for contacting the National Highways customer contact centre via Fix My Street on Tuesday 4 April 2023 regarding the potholes on the A1 between Team Valley and Washington services.
We’re sorry to hear you’ve experienced deep potholes and repaired potholes reopening in both lanes on the southbound carriageway of the A1.
We had a programme in place which has been temporarily repairing the potholes on the carriageway until we could arrange for a more permanent solution. We now have a permanent solution which involves resurfacing small sections of the A1 affected by the potholes. These works are planned for the southbound carriageway on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April 2023 with a contingency date of Sunday 23 April 2023 to check that all potholes have been captured.
We apologise again for any inconvenience caused by the potholes and can assure you, we’re repairing the potholes until we can re-surface the entire scheme in 2024.
Thank you again for contacting us and we hope the information provided has been helpful to you.
