Recent lane markings on roundabout can potentially cause collision’s

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 10:27, Sun 26 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4359487.

On Approach road to m20 j5 interchange from cold harbour there are 2 lanes that transform into 3 at the junction with the roundabout. Left lane is m20 London bound. Middle is little Preston or Coast bound m20 an outer RH is also Coast bound. Problem we have since the lane markings were repainted is that both the middle and outer right lane both initially lead into the same lane on the roundabout, and then a few yrds on another lane opens out so forming 3 lanes. But by then a collision can occur! The left hand lane is purely for little Preston which doesn’t need its own lane for so little traffic! What happens in practise is the two lanes from coldharbour all drive into the middle lane causing potential accidents because the 3rd lane doesn’t exist soon enough. The is also a serious problem with the lane markings on the lane joining the m20 coast bound needing arrows as two lanes become one as reported separately. Needs urgent action
