Conflicting overhead speed signs with metal signs at road edge

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 20:26, Sat 25 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4358846.

All day today, 25th March 2023, M42 between Shirley and Birmingham Airport J4-6 northbound and southbound. Various metal speed limit signs on central reservation or near hard shoulder showing 50mph throughout the roadworks appear to conflict with overhead signs showing National speed limit (white circle with black line) implying 70mph along with End of roadworks signs. Traffic alternates between 50 and 70 mph with hard braking in between. I believe this to be misleading and potentially dangerous. Can the overhead signs at least agree with the fixed metal 50mph signs to avoid confusion?
