When the traffic lights are switched on (morning) it causes massive queues on the surrounding roads and motorway

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 18:31, Sat 25 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4358610.

When the traffic lights at GUIDE INTERCHANGE are switched on in the morning it causes massive queues on the surrounding roads and motorway sliproads. So Haslingden/Elton Road B6232 queues form right back up to the first junction for Belthorn village. School Lane in Guide backs up with about a 15 minute delay because no one will let you out at the junction to the A6077. The motorway sliproad junction 5 gets jammed and people end up queuing on the motorway lane 1.

Some days (Fridays for instance) there's not too much of a problem, I suspect lots of people work from home. OTher days it's chaos. On Thursday my children were 30 minutes late for school as we got stuck in the queue on Haslingden Road.

The minute the lights are switched off at 9am the traffic dissipates!

I have photos from my Waze app.
