Big tyre

Reported via mobile in the Flytipping (NH) category anonymously at 22:46, Tue 21 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4343323.

Big tyre and a lot of debris on the side of the entry slip road. Wind could bring this debris into the road surface and cause an accident.

Updates

  • In the past week the timing of the traffic lights at J14 of the M5 has been changed, causing long and unnecessary tailbacks.

The main problem is with the filter allowing traffic to turn right off the B4509 onto the slip road for the northbound carriageway of the M5. The lights seem stuck on red for a very long time, and quite out of sync with other lights around the junction, meaning vehicles in that lane queue back across the link to/from the southbound carriageway. This blocks traffic wanting to move west along the B4509, and subsequently blocks those wanting to access the M5 southbound slip road. The results is a very long tailback east along the B4509, and extreme disruption to the west-bound traffic on that road, whatever their onward route.

Why was the timing changed recently, and why was it set to this particular pattern? Please can you ensure that this matter is attended to asap.
