Massive pothole

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 11:57, Sat 11 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4301011.

M11 south of junction 7, huge potholes resulting in damage to 2 offside tyres (bulges and splits to sidewalls, possible damage to wheel and steering and suspension components) and steering geometry realignment (damage so far, will know more when the damage is fixed). This is dangerous and the affected lane(s) need to be closed until this damage is fixed before it's not just vehicles are damaged. I note with interest that this was reported way back in January and has subsequently been closed although no action taken. I will therefore be claiming for the full cost of damages to my vehicle and time taken to resolve.

  • Thank you for informing our Customer Contact Centre about potholes on the M11 south of Harlow. I appreciate you taking the time to report this. I’ve passed your observations to our maintenance team for further investigation.

Potholes can be hazardous and we have processes in place to ensure they are made safe quickly. We carry out frequent safety patrols to monitor the condition of the road. Any potholes or defects we find are recorded. Repairs are then prioritised based on the severity of the defect.
