Traffic light phasing causing excessive traffic hold ups
Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 11:16, Thu 9 March 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4294629.
The traffic lights controlling traffic from the A404 entering the M4 roundabout are causing unnecessary excessive delays. This has already been reported on the 28th February but nothing seems to have been done. I am reporting it again because you state that updates are not sent to National Highways so despite many others adding to the original report it is obvious that you are not receiving them and therefore nothing is being done. This needs fixing as soon as possible as it is causing long delays for people getting to work and it has been like this for too long.

Around 7.30am weekdays it is difficult to get on A404M North as the traffic is solid. Even at 6.50am, when access to the road was clear, there was still a long queue to get to the roundabout. I believe lights are red for 30 seconds and green for 8 to 10.

Thank you for your report concerning traffic light phasing.
We’re aware of the phasing issues. We have found a fault on the BT line and the work will be completed as soon as possible.
Kind regards
National Highways
