Road surface potted and dangerous

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 13:34, Fri 3 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4279613.

All around this junction the road surface is disintegrating. When turning right onto the A27, its common to wheel spin as vehicles cannot get grip. Also the area before this is also very disintegrated. When turning left from A27 onto Salvington Hill, the road surface is so bad that my vehicle drifts as no grip to the road, also very potted. This junction is part of a bus route, and although they are heavy vehicles not very vehicle is.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning the condition of the A27 and bellmouth to Salvington Hill.

Our inspector visited the location and agrees that work is needed to ensure the safety of road users.

3 potholes were identified for urgent and this should be completed within 24 hours, dependent on winter maintenance (gritting) obligations due to the cold weather wrings for the area.

Longer term the location has been passed to our asset team to consider a full resurfacing scheme for the wider area.

    Kind regards
