The road lane markings are desperately poor

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 08:21, Thu 2 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4275614.

Since the completion of the smart motorway this sections lane markings are incredibly poor especially when the sun is shining on the road . The old temporary lanes from the works are still prominent (tarmac line) and drifting is a real concern. These markings are desperately poor and need addressing before a major accident occurs

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning faded road markings on the M27 Smart Motorway stretch.

We currently have plans to completely resurface the concrete stretch of the M27, including repainting markings. We aim to increase the visual distinction between the markings and the road itself, as well as reducing the visibility of joint materials which may cause confusion. This scheme will add a thick layer of asphalt on top of the concrete that’s currently in place there, and it is due to start in Spring 2023, lasting approximately 12-18 months to complete. Up-to-date information can be found at the following link as we make it available:
