Dangerous sightlines when joining the A404M, inappropriate road markings and lack of warning signs

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 15:35, Wed 1 March 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4274268.

The slip road from the A4 to the A404M, southbound, has dangerous blindspots, made worse by being short, and on such a long bend on the main road. Today, as I drove down the slip road in the left hand lane, a car traveling fast tried to overtake and cut out into the main traffic. That car blocked my wing mirror, forcing me to brake, as i could not get sight of the traffic in my wing mirror. The other driver had snookered me, blocking my sightlines. The other driver also had to brake, with aggressive horn-blowing. It was just as well, as a large artic truck was thundering in the left hand lane of the A404M. A suggested solution: to add signs at the start of the slip road saying 'no overtaking, blind bend', repeated part-way down, and amend the road markings, to make the two lanes on the slip road into one.
