Dangerous pavement

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath issue (NH) category anonymously at 18:02, Sun 26 February 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4265341.

This is the only place to cross the river after Clifton Bridge to the North East. Unlike Clifton Bridge, there is no crash barrier between the fast and heavy traffic and the pavement. This felt incredibly unsafe. We were on a family bike ride and this part said that cyclists should dismount. We didn’t, as the safest thing to do was go get over the bridge as quickly as possible. I believe that the given the lack of alternatives for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the River Trent, this path should be protected so it can be used safely. The area that is the problem is the bridge over the river and train tracks. There is a cycle path at either end with this as an dangerous gap in the middle.
