Litter

Reported via desktop in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 11:18, Fri 24 February 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4260271.

Looks like a landfill site on the exit from Jct 31 east bound. Needs a litter clearance desperately.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report of litter in this location.

I can confirm that we've been litter picking in this area recently, and works should now been complete.

We litter pick somewhere on the network every single day. Based on the Defra Code of Practice we constantly grade our network. If it degrades, we'll return it to the required standard within the timescales set out in the Code of Practice. We always aim to do this quicker than the legal requirement wherever possible.

We're clearing litter on some parts of our network within 3 to 5 working days. N.B. Where debris is treated as a hazard to traffic (e.g. tyre debris in live lanes), we use emergency measures to ensure it is acted upon as a matter of priority.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
