Rubbish along roadside from Southampton to Bognor Regis
Reported via desktop in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 21:01, Sun 19 February 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4246584.
I drove from Southampton to Bognor Regis today M27 A259, and I was appalled at the amount of roadside rubbish which has been allowed to accumulate the whole length of the motorways.. Large pieces of plastic which could easily be blown around the wheels of cars. Large pieced of timber which could take out a windscreen. Tons of rubbish people have thrown from cars. Isn't it time the cameras are used to fine people who throw rubbish from cars?

Thank you for your report concerning litter along the M27 and A259.
Litter is an ongoing focus for National Highways, and we're consistently clearing litter on our motorways. We recently completed a series of litter picks between junctions 11 and 12 of the M27, and will continue to plan and carry out further programmes along this motorway.
Litter on A roads is the responsibility of the local authorities, therefore we recommend that you pass your concerns regarding the A259 and other relevant A roads on to the local council. You can find out which council is responsible for the area of concern at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/ find-local-council
If you'd like to know more about how National Highways are addressing littering on our network, and what plans we have to reduce littering going forward, you can find our litter strategy here: https://www.gov.uk/ government/ publications/ highways-england-litter-strategy

This litter on the M60 and Kearsley Spur hasn't picked, and is getting worse, I've seen a stool, that has been there for over 2 weeks. Does anyone work on the M60?
This rubbish is utterly vile.
