Litter not being cleared on the A2

Reported via desktop in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 15:16, Sat 18 February 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4243930.

Reports keep being made. The response is the same from National Highways. "We’ve instructed the works to be carried out within 28 days, subject to suitable traffic management approval, to provide a safe working environment for the crews" and the report is closed for updates. Yet, there are no updates, the rubbish is not being cleared. Numerous posts from January with the 28 days now well in the past. The side of the A2 Eastbound from Sainsburys looks like a bin.

Updates

  • We carry out regular litter inspections along the A2 and M2, with our most recent inspection on 26 January. Following our inspector’s recommendations, we’ve instructed our maintenance partners to arrange litter picks, starting on the eastbound carriageway. In addition to litter picking, they will undertake grass cutting and gully clearance. We’ve instructed the works to be carried out within 28 days, subject to suitable traffic management approval, to provide a safe working environment for the crews. Once the eastbound verges and slips have been picked, we will turn our attention to the westbound carriageway.
