Top surface of road has completely worn away

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 13:20, Fri 10 February 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4220804.

Top surface of road has completely worn away in lane 3 (the right-most lane) of the A23 southbound in roughly this position. If you are driving at 70mph the vehicle will pull into a rut and could cause danger very soon if further damage occurs.

  • This problem has got considerably worse (as predicted) and is now 3-4 deep holes in the outside driving lane causing vehicles to swerve. Probably would have been easier to repair when I first reported it in February.

  • It’s now two months since the initial report of this - still not repaired. Very dangerous for motorcyclists to use the outside lane of the A23 southbound at this point.
