Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning the electronic sign.

The application for the sign was approved on the basis that it removed up to seven static signs, thus balancing or even improving the legibility of information presented to motorists on approach.

There's has been no evidence that this type of now very common electronic sign has resulted in accidents anywhere. We recommended conditions to Bristol City Council to control glare intensity and transition time. As it's the planning authority it's for them to consider enforcement action.

A review of the locality since the erecting of the signs confirms accidents have actually decreased.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
