Traffic signal pointed to the wrong lane on Hopgrove roundabout

I would like to report what I believe to be a traffic light that has been turned and is now facing the wrong lane.

When driving home on Tuesday (31-1-23) at around 8pm I was approaching the red light on the A1237 in the rightmost lane to head towards the Designer Outlet.

I was looking at and waiting for the light on my left to change to green, which it did before I came to a complete stop, however upon going onto the roundabout I realised that this was the traffic signal for the leftmost lane (for traffic heading onto the A64 towards Malton).

By the time I had realised the light was not for my lane I had moved forward far enough that the lights to my right were no longer visible due tothe sunshades that are installed on them.

I have attached a screenshot from Google Maps showing the junction and have highlighted the traffic signal that was facing the wrong way.

  • Thank you for reporting a traffic light issue in this location.

    Our inspectors have been out to the site to investigate and couldn't locate an alignment issue, however did notice that a red light was out. This has been reported to our operations control room to be attended and fixed.

  • All 3 red traffic lights are faulty A1237 Hopgrove link, turning left to Scarborough

  • Lights 4, 5 and 6 have no red lights working. Hopgrove roundabout A64.
