Temporary Sign for A63 road works obstructing view.

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 13:16, Mon 30 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4185274.

A temporary road sign has been placed on the A1034/South Cave interchange for the roadworks taking place on the A63. As vehicles attempt to emerge from Willow Flats, South Cave, the view to the left (in the direction of Sth Cave) is obscured by this temporary sign. The sign is in place 24/7 (covered during the day) - this is quite a large sign approx 3"x3". This is particularly dangerous as the speed of vehicles passing the junction is 40mph +. Drivers are attempting to creep out due to the restriction and having to stop with the front of their vehicle in live traffic. This is an easy fix by repositioning the sign in a more suitable location and training those placing them of the need to consider all factors in the area. Thanks

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a temporary sign obstructing the road view.

I have passed this over to the relevant team and they will be going out to investigate/reassess. The sign will be moved to a more appropriate position if it is in the way.

    Kind regards

  • Morning. This sign was moved for a short time, however it has now been replaced, this time even closer to the junction and completely obstructing the view to the left when emerging from Willow Flats onto the A1034. Other signs have been placed next to the off slip junction from the A63 EBC - again restricting views. there are also signs on the roundabout near to Sewells garage which again restrict views. Clearly the people placing the signs are giving little consideration to the road layout and the implications due to their lack of consideration. This is now the second time I have raised this matter, should anyone be unfortunate to be involved in a collision due to the difficulty emerging, I will offer my services as an expert witness to give mitigation. Please this time could you provide an update - the last complaint was resolved but is still shown as open on the webpage. Thanks
