Litter frequently coming from veolia waste lorries

Reported via mobile in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 18:13, Sun 29 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4182797.

Today, yet another veolia waste lorry with a supposedly empty trailer but lots of plastic wrappings blowing out of the lorry and littering the motorway. They also scatter waste on the a557 southbound from m62 j8. The hard shoulders and hedgerows are full of plastic and paper waste. This is not discarded by motorists, a quick inspection will prove these are actually from public waste station at Huyton. This waste is transported to WSL recycling in widnes. Follow the litter trail!

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning litter at on the M62 between junctions 6-7. Over the next three weeks we're conducting network wide inspections for litter. Following this we'll arrange litter picks. Litter from unsecured waste wagons adds to the work we have to do to clear litter. We do not have powers of enforcement so we're unable to investigate such incidents. If you would like a more detailed response on this matter, please contact our 24hr Customer Contact Centre • Email – info@nationalhighways.co.uk • Tel: 0300 123 5000
