Long and deep pothole between lines on A1M northbound after passing under bridge with Norton Rd around 1mls before junction 10

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4171359.

That pothole is on broken white lines A1M Northbound between jnc 9 and 10 very dangerous as everyone drive with national speed limits of 70mph it can be caused fatal accidents. I was lucky my tyre is not blown up with that speed but damage alloy wheel and suspension guarantee

  • This caused two vehicles (mine and another motorist who I met on the hard shoulder afterwards) serious damage on 25/01/23 at approx 1845. Alloy destroyed, tire destroyed, suspension / steering damage being assessed.

I’ve passed your observations to our maintenance team for further prompt investigation. Potholes can be hazardous and we have processes in place to ensure they are made safe quickly. We also carry out frequent safety inspections where potholes and other defects are recorded. We then carry out repairs prioritising the most serious. Kind regards National Highways
