Bridge has no noise barriers

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 09:52, Wed 25 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4168478.

M66 motorway noise is quite high for the street we live on. Especially in winter when the leaves fall and an easterly wind.

The bridge has no barriers at present but it would be great if some were installed? I work shifts and would massively help!

Many thanks

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways,

We manage traffic noise issues in line with the requirements of the Environmental Noise (England) Regulations 2006. Where Noise Important Areas are identified by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) we're able to implement noise mitigation measures. The area pinpointed has not been identified as a Noise Important Area, therefore we don't currently have any plans to install noise barriers. We're sorry we can't be of more assistance at this time.

    Kind regards, National Highways
