Remove 30mph signage close rot the bridge

Why does the 30mph signage and limit apply about half a mile before and after the bridge begins, why can't this be removed until after junction 37 and the national speed limit imposed as soon as the bridge finishes, taking way too long and the 30mph is limit is unnecessary, cars and lorries make vibration at 30mph and you now have more vehicles on the bridge for longer probably causing far more vibration than they would if they passed over it quickly at 50-70mph.

Thank you for your report regarding your concerns with the speed limits over the River Ouse Bridge.
In both the easterly and westerly directions the speed limits decrease from 70 mph, then to 50 mph and then to 30 mph as the traffic gets closer to the contraflow crossover points. The 50 and 30 mph speed limits have been in place since the establishment of the contraflow and are in place for the bridgeworks to be undertaken, to avoid any traffic congestion and protect the bridge and the workforce
The 30 mph speed limit over the bridge is in place due to the reduced lane widths required to accommodate the two lanes in either direction together with the barrier to segregate the traffic, with the 50 mph speed limit in place to slow traffic down as they approach the crossover points for the contraflow. Both speed limits are there to protect both the travelling public together with the workforce, as well as reducing the risk of any further stress to the existing joints on the bridge.
Average speed cameras have now been established on the site as a result of the increased numbers of vehicles exceeding the speed limits in place. As part of the process in establishing the speed camera’s some existing signs are being moved and additional signs established in advance of the 30 mph zone to pre-worn motorists of the reduction in speed limit.
Kind regards
