Gaps Between Centre Cones
Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 09:59, Sun 22 January 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4158056.
Due to roadworks which have been ongoing from plympton past ivybridge. There has been cones put in place between the two lanes to separate them. As you get closer to Ivybridge there are gaps between these cones. We were driving near to the Ivybridge turn off and the person in front of us slammed their brakes on to try and fit through the gap as they were in the wrong lane. There could have been a massive accident here. There are already signs in place to tell people to get in the right lane, please could these gaps be closed to stop accidents from happening.

Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning the A38 roadworks.
We're sorry to hear of your experience through the works.
The cones have been placed on the road to facilitate the contraflow running of the A38 both during the weekend closure and subsequent overnight contraflow running. We've been unable to operate 24/7 contraflow running on this part of the A38 due to the high daytime volumes of traffic.
It's disappointing that some road users are not paying attention to the signage through this stretch of the A38 and making last minute manoeuvres from Lane 2 into Lane 1.
We can advise that all of the cylinders have now been removed from both the eastbound and westbound carriageways, due to the works requiring the contraflow being completed.
If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.
Kind regards
