Footpath beneath A31.A338 Ringwood/Salisbury Roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 14:41, Fri 20 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4153622.

The Gravel Lane Pedestrian subway has been flooded. So i attempted to use the alternative footpath to the Ringwood town centre via the roundabout. I was unable to access the footpath.

Since the A31 Ringwood bridge replacement and road widening scheme the alternative footpath to Ringwood town centre via the roundabout has been decommissioned.

Can explain why this alternative footpath to the Ringwood town centre has been removed? What alternative route has been provided for pedestrians?

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning the Gravel Lane Pedestrian subway .

We’re aware of that the underpasses are sometimes impassable due to flooding issues. This was not part of the widening and bridge replacement scheme, however, we discussed the issue of flooding with Hampshire County Council and Ringwood Town Council. At present the issue is being investigated. There is not a formal diversion route if the underpasses are impassable

    Kind regards
