Potholes

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4145690.

Numerous large and/or deep potholes on A1 through roadworks between Junctions 65 and 68 Northbound and between Junctions 68 and 65 Southbound. Becoming worse over the winter months but at a point where they are going to start causing damage to vehicles.

    Costain Jacobs working on behalf of National Highways apologise for any inconvenience caused by the condition of the carriageway.

    The team have recently filled in several potholes but due to the recent bad weather these have opened again.

    Our Traffic Safety Control Officers (TSCO’s) patrol the scheme regularly and report any carriageway defects to the traffic management team. The team have a plan in place to repair potholes as they are identified and continue to fill them in as soon as possible.

    When the widening of the A1 is complete and we have the extra lane either side of the carriageway, we'll be resurfacing all lanes as part of the A1 Birtley to Coal House scheme.
