Surface Water Running onto A120

Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 12:16, Tue 17 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4140293.

Road Gulleys appear to be blocked causing surface water to flow onto the carriageway and this is now freezing due to the current low temperatures.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about flooding on the A120.

This has been an ongoing issue that we're aware of. It's a local authority problem which is directly impacting our road network.

National Highways colleagues have been there all day mitigating the risk and there is currently a speed restriction in place and a dam around the discharging gully. We'll continue to mitigate the risks to our road network until Essex Highways can identify where the source of the issue is.

I'm pleased to confirm that we've also had extra grit runs in this area to ensure it doesn’t freeze on the A120.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
