Visability

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 11:14, Mon 16 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4134971.

Why isnt there any cats eyes on most of the M3 (westbound). there are occasional stretches where there are cats eyes, but the majority of the motor way does not have visible cats eyes separating the lanes. It is especially bad where it reduces to two lanes (Jct 8 to 11). the M3 has no lighting - so i would have thought it was especially important to have good working cats eyes

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning missing cats' eyes on the M3 Westbound.

We last refreshed the cats' eyes in July 2022, at which point they were deemed to be in fit condition. We log any loose cats' eyes on the road for immediate emergency repair, and currently there are no known faults with the non-Smart motorway cats' eyes.

Between Junctions 9 and 11, there are currently temporary traffic management measures in place for roadworks, and therefore the cats' eyes have been deliberately removed. They will be replaced once the works are complete and the temporary traffic management removed.
