Flood between northbound m60 junction 25 to 34

Reported via mobile in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 22:16, Sun 15 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4133455.

There have been multiple occasions that the junction on m60 has been flooded, particularly during heavy rainfall. It is a hazard and I am surprised that the highway agency, the police or other patrols have not reported this as an issue. On Tuesday 10 January 2023 There was a downpour of rain which forced drivers to slam on their breaks and move over to the left lane. The right lane was completely flooded. I feel like there is going to be going a major accident here if the highway agency does not fix the issue. Please take this as urgent notice to inspect and repair, otherwise the highway agency will be held liable for any incident that occurs, as a result of flooding. This issue has been present for months now.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report of carriageway flooding on the M60 junctions 25-24. We are aware of the flooding along this section of the M60, which appears to have got progressively worse over the last few months. Some of the issues which have led to the recent flooding appear to be due to water not being able to get to the drainage in the central reserve. We have a few drainage schemes between J24 and J25, which we are looking to address in the next few years. We're developing a scheme to address this specific issue, but this will not be ready to deliver until after April 2023. In the meantime, we'll mitigate the issue during periods of heavy rain through our routine maintenance programme. I hope this information has been helpful and thank you again for contacting us. Kind regards
