Potholes on link road - both directions

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 11:53, Fri 13 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4123632.

Several potholes developing on A3(M) to A27 link road. The worst pothole is currently on the northbound side close to the A27 Eastbound roundabout. However several other potholes are developing, suggesting a larger programme of resurfacing is required.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning potholes on the A3(M)/A27 link.

We recognise a need to resurface this stretch of road due to wear and tear, and we're currently arranging a scheme to fully repair the surfacing on this road. It's in the early stages of planning though, and it's likely that the actual resurfacing works won't happen until 2024. In the meantime, we regularly visit the area and arrange emergency repairs for any safety-critical potholes or cracks. I can confirm that an emergency repair to make the road safe was carried out on 16 January 2023.

  • There is a large pothole on their Northbound carriageway in the near side wheel track. Unfortunately hit it last night at 7pm and put a hole in the side wall of my front tyre

  • We also hit this pothole last night nearly had an accident with baby on board, it is rather deep it should at least be filled in and made safe to avoid a major incident. We were lucky.
