Redundant Signs left for 6 months +

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 20:06, Thu 12 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4120898.

Reporting many issues of abandoned redundant metal signs a frames and discarded cones and sand bags which are too numerous to document on those sites. I have records that these abandoned signs, traffic management paraphernalia have been in the loci for 6 months or more. Even that with abandoned a frames at the location then these have been ignored and additional a frames have been put at the same location. Evidence that materials are being wasted and staff are not doing their job correctly, supervision and management are failing to ensure public safety and a clean and non polluted environment. The area horrendously bad is on the A27 between A23 and Lyons Farm Worthing. All appear discarded wasted Highways traffic management equipment demonstrating even more the lack of interest to protect the public or environment. Please don’t reply that the signs are needed some maybe but the most as I say unused for over 6 months. Thank you for resolving hopefully this situation and I look for evidential environmental and road safety improvement in next 4 weeks

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning redundant abandoned signs along the A27 Sompting. We’re nearing completion of a long scheme in this area to improve the junctions at Sompting road and Lyons Way which is why there is an influx of signs to be seen. Once the scheme has been completed they will be removed.

    Kind regards
