Inadequate road markings and signs on sliproad
Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 01:01, Tue 3 January 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4078803.
When coming off the sliproad at junction 1 of the eastbound M55, there are two lanes. Right lane is meant to be for A6 traffic toward Preston and left lane for A6 to Garstang. The right lane splits into two onto the roundabout. Motorists who cannot see the faint road markings coming down the left lane seem to think they can go toward Preston. There are road marking but they are faint and there are regularly incidents where two cars have almost ended up colliding on the roundabout because they are trying to go into the same lane. It's so common, when I am in the right lane headed to Preston I just let them merge from the left because of the risk of incident. The road markings need sorting out and the signs above the sliproad should clearly indicate which lane goes where - currently it suggests you can go to Preston or Garstang regardless of lane. This issue has been present for a number of years and as mentioned above, incidents happen on a daily basis.
