‘Residents only ‘ sign has been taken from junction and high amounts of traffic travelling through the village off the main road because of traffic from road works.

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 12:08, Fri 9 December 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4025137.

Sign needed to be placed back on junction. Lots of cars are coming down the road when they shouldn’t because of the ongoing road works junction to new road and Woodhead rd.

  • Thank you for reporting this issue to us via FixMyStreet.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of our nearby works. We appreciate the time you have taken to contact us about this.

We’ve looked into the issue for you. Resident access only signs were in place at either end of Old Road between 5 December 2022 and 16 December 2022 as a precautionary measure as part of our Traffic Management for a nearby road improvement scheme. We can confirm that our temporary signage for Old Road was in place for the duration of the works as there is no permanent resident access only signs at this location.

The position of our temporary signage was to mitigate against Old Road being used as a diversion by drivers attempting to bypass our temporary traffic signals. Unfortunately, due to the location of our works west of Old Road, drivers who attempted to use Old Road against the advice of our signage would’ve encountered the traffic signals works.

We’re again sorry for the inconvenience our works may have caused you and we appreciate you taking the time to report your concerns to us.

    Kind Regards, National Highways
