Confusing new road markings and signage(and poor drivers)

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 17:42, Thu 24 November 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3991095.

Hi, the slip road from Ringwood onto the A31 towards Bmth has reopened off the main Ringwood roundabout. The inside lane is marked left arrow A31, the outside lane right arrow/straight on is also marked A31 and A? Salisbury Road. I use this junction twice a day, traffic is now supposed to only turn left from the inside lane but on now five occaisions when i have been driving through vehicles have gone straight across to the Salisbury road exit, obviously the new road markings and sign are not working! It is also confusing that the road markings both say A31, I have discussed this on a FB forum and some folk are saying you can even turn left from the outside lane as it says A31! I think another sign saying NEW ROAD LAYOUT may be needed, plus the addition of W and E on the A31 signs. Please can you look at this urgently, I am going to write to my local councillor as well. From comments on FB there have already been a number of incidents there, I myself was badly cut up by a driver. The comments on FB are always interesting, some quoting the Highway code and saying they will continue going straight over. I foresee some shunts and complicated insurance claims, possibly naming Highways for confusing signage.
