Cars run red lights here!

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 13:39, Mon 21 November 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3980764.

This is about the pedestrian crossing on the A27 Lancing, located between Grand Ave and First Ave. We cross here every week day to go back and forward on the school run. Every day without fail, at least one car runs through a red light at the pedestrian crossing. I have witnessed several near misses and am really worried about children and/or adults being hit by a car/lorry. If there was a speed camera here you’d make a fortune! Im not sure what can be done to make it safer, but I’m hoping you’ll have some ideas. Many thanks

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning bad driver behaviour at the crossing on the A27, Lancing.

Thank you for your report, whilst we're not an enforcement agency your concerns have been passed to our safety team for consideration in future discussions.

There are criteria for the installation of safety cameras, when there must be both evidence of excess speed and also a history of speed related injury crashes at the location before the police will consider camera based enforcement.

    Kind regards
