Footpath floods

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 13:34, Mon 21 November 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3980741.

Hello, I’m writing to report a footpath. It is just after the pedestrian crossing between Grand Ave and First Ave, Lancing, but on the north side of the A27. It floods every time it rains and there is also a massive puddle on the corner (where First Ave meets the A27 on the north left hand side) which causes cars to splash pedestrians. The footpath is used very regularly for the school run. It has been like this for at least 4 years.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning flooding events on the corner of First Avenue and the A27.

We’re aware of this issue and it will be addressed within our resurfacing scheme early in 2023.

Water run off from First Avenue is a contributory factor to the flooding here due to the lack of drainage on first Avenue. We have contacted West Sussex County Council previously to see if they are able to carry out any drainage improvements. Please contact them via their website www.westsussex.gov.uk

    Kind regards

    National Highways
