Traffic light sequence problem

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 10:35, Wed 16 November 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3968311.

Yesterday on exiting the M2 at Junction 3, London bound, traffic lights were only allowing three or four vehicles to exit slip road, causing long tail backs. On the previous day when we were travelling past this same slip road, we observed that vehicles were queuing back onto the M2, which is an accident waiting to happen. Noticed that this same problem was reported back in September.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the traffic signals on the M2 junction 3.

Having made enquiries with our asset team, we're advised the traffic lights at Junction 3 of the M2 are not National Highways responsibility to maintain but the local authority.

Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-council.

We can advise that there are gas works being carried out by SGN at Blue Bell Hill by junction 3, which has contributed to the impact on congestion at this junction.

    Kind regards,

    National Highways
