Confusing direction signing

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 21:08, Sun 13 November 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3961179.

When heading westbound on the M62 and leaving at Junction 26 the direction signs on the motorway say 'Cleckheaton A638'. Yet the sign on the slip road and most of those on the ensuing roundabout say 'Dewsbury A638'. Only on the sign at the exit of the roundabout on to the A638 is there any mention of Cleckheaton.

Updates

  • Good Morning

Thank you for contacting us by Fix My Street on 13 November about issues with the signage at junction 26 of the M62.

Having reviewed the signage at this location we can confirm that it does need to be amended. As you say, the overhead gantry sign should read ‘Dewsbury’ and not ‘Cleckheaton’. At the next planned renewal of the signage, ‘Cleckheaton’ will be replaced with ‘Dewsbury’. We do appreciate you bringing this issue with the signage to our attention.

Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
