Roadworks badly managed

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 11:49, Mon 7 November 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3944654.

There are two main problems with this section of road. 1. the roadworks are severely badly managed, there are very few workers ever there, working ridicuosly short hours and they simply leave a sign out saying materials curing which is simply not true. they are rarely there beyond 3 or 4 in the day, weekends only Saturday mornings and never on a sunday, signage says works will be for 4 weeks from 29th September its now more than 5 weeks and the road is still severely disrupted, it feels as though these works could have been completed in a few days if the contractor worked day and night, average journey into london on this route is at least 30 minutes longer day and night both in and out of london, it is the main artery from Heathrow into london and it should be fixed and returned to normal service as quickly as possible not given to a contractor who clearly is understaffed, badly prepared and badly managed. I am sure the thousands or travellers being disrupted every day would agree. 2. why when the road was restricted to only one lane was this the case? firstly the eastbound side should have the entrance from the A$ closed and then it is compfortably 2 lanes into london which would significantly reduce the queues and reduce travel time disruption and the westbound lanes also closed to noe lane which again if you close the access to the A4 there you can keep the road to 2 lanes which again will significantly reduce the delays and disruption. finally when will these works ever finish?
