M27 junction 7

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 07:08, Sat 29 October 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3922486.

Dangerous road markings. Not clear where the lines are. Also some cars have road assist which could make a car move across the lines meaning a danger to road users. Marking need to be clear so drivers know which lane to use!

Updates

  • I was travelling along the M27 Westbound about 30 minutes ago. There was a tanker stopped in the left lane. There had been warning signs saying 'report of obstruction' with a 50mph limit a few miles back, but the restriction had actually been lifted with a 'road clear' sign before I had to swerve (as other vehicles also had to do) to avoid the tanker. I expect this has been resolved now, but I wish to register my concern that this is potentially a very dangerous situation with misleading signs. Coincidentally, I travelled the same stretch of motorway last Saturday evening and a motorhome had broken down in the left lane. This too had no warning signs on the smart motorway.
