Dangerous filtering barriers onto A38

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 14:54, Wed 26 October 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3916531.

This is quite urgent before there is a serious accident. The north bound slip road from the A5127 at the Streethay side of Lichfield, Staffs which filters onto the A38 is subject to HS2 construction and a 40mph speed limit. When this was introduced this was fine. However, recently extensive concrete barriers have been introduced which substantially reduce the amount of space that traffic has to adjust their distance to slip onto the A38 main carriageway. Traffic on the slip road cannot see the traffic on the main carriageway and to some extent have to guess at a gap to filter into. The new concrete barriers make judging this to be impossible. Lorries cannot adjust their speed at short notice and cannot move over into the other lane because of the volume of traffic. The concrete barriers on the left of the slip road need removing immediately.
